What I keep about your visit

I'm curious who finds this place and what they stop to read, so I keep a small log of visits. It tells me which pages you opened, what you clicked, how far you scrolled and how long you stayed. If you ask the mind a question on /thought, I keep the question too, because those are what I learn the most from.

To tie one visit to the next, your browser gets a random id in a first-party cookie. I also see the rough place your connection comes from (country, region, city), your kind of device and browser, and the site that sent you. I don't store your IP address, I don't fingerprint you, and I don't buy or sell data or share it with advertisers. Nobody but me can open the log. I only know your name if you tell me, or if you came through a link I made for you.

The log lives with Upstash, the database behind this site, and each day of it is deleted after 60 days. Vercel, which hosts the site, also counts visits in its own anonymous analytics.

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, I don't count you at all. You can also switch it off here. To see or delete anything I hold about you, write to vince@vincedotcode.com.
